Impact 1 – Bordeaux 2 : Improvement
By: Franck |Well, it was only a friendly, and Bordeaux didn’t field their A team, but hey, we gave them a good fight, and had a few chances to tie it. After a first half where he hardly touched the ball, we made a few changes on the pitch and came at Les Girondins in a [...]
Could July 27, 2009 be a historic date for the Montreal Impact?
By: Franck |Montreal might well be MLS‘ 19th club. According to MLS.net, it appears that MLS Commissioner Don Garber will make a “special announcement” after the MLS All-Star Game Conference tomorrow afternoon, which begins at 3:30pm EST.
It appears, however, that Impact President Joey Saputo won’t make the trip to Salt Lake City for the press conference, [...]
Aztex 2 – Impact 2
By: Franck |Thank this one to depth and hussle.
With 3 goals called off-side, the Impact decided that they really didn’t want to end their match versus the Austin Aztex with zero points by coming back from an 0-2 deficit to equalize late in the match with an 89th minute goal by Roberto Brown. Rudolph Mayard finally scored [...]
Montreal 4 – Cleveland 1 – Digging ourselves out of the ditch…
By: Franck |We didn’t hit rock bottom after all. Finally, after 468 minutes, we scored a goal. Not only that, but we added three more in this game. The Cleveland City Stars, heavy on the fouls and heavy on goals against, wasn’t very good.
Montreal scored early, as did Cleveland, but for most of the rest of the game, [...]
Show an “8″ in support of Sandro Grande!
By: Franck |Some of the Montreal Impact supporters have decided to show their support for the recently discharged Sandro Grande, one of the heart-and-soul players of the Impact whose contract was rescinded yesterday after an in-field altercation last week with team captain Mauro Biello, by bringing the number 8 to Stade Saputo tomorrow evening for the match [...]
Rock bottom?
By: Franck |5 games without a goal. Nice. Once again, we let a team beat us at home. Genious. It seems to me that Puerto Rico is about as ready as ever for the CCL. Kudos to them.
To top things off, Sandro Grande was released today, his contract rescinded because his gesture against team captain and player-coachMauro [...]
Rochester 0 – Impact 0: A better effort
By: Franck |A point on the road is fine considering the recent turmoil. The team gave a much better showing this time around, though the same problem this season has continued into its fourth game: unable to finish and find the back of the net. It’s nice, however, seeing some young guys (Mayard Bros., Ciaran O’Brien) play [...]
Grande suspended…but only after the media reported the incident
By: Franck |This hilarious scene was taken during Saturday’s match against Minnesota. Sandro Grande got into a shouting match with team captain Mauro Biello, who had criticized Grande for missing a pass. Grande went so far as to “choke” his teammate before Matt Jordan broke up the altercation.
Grande was suspended by the Impact for an as-yet undetermined [...]
Minnesota 3, Impact 0 *sigh*
By: Franck |I don’t know what else to say about yesterday’s game, except that the team came out flat once again. This time, against the worst team in the league, Minnesota. But let’s be honest: Minnesota isn’t the worst team in USL-1, the Impact clearly are. This was one of those must-win games. And by must-win, I [...]
What’s ahead…
By: Franck |Let’s see now…sitting in the 8th spot in the standings, tied with Miami who are ahead of us because of the goal differential. Rounding up the month of July are these six league matches. 3 of which are against teams below us in the standings (Minnesota, Cleveland and Austin), while a fourth is against Miami. [...]
