2-1 ! L’Impact Kicking CONCACAF-ASS in Honduras!

2 goals by forward Roberto Brown were enough to see l’impact win 2-1 against CD Olimpia, the hondurian champions. Olimpia managed to curl the ball over l’Impact’s wall for a beautiful equalising goal on a free kick. Roberto Brown won and scored a Penalty in the 72nd minute and l’Impact’s always solid defence managed to keep the scoreline to 2-1 !

“Tonight’s result is amazing after having played so many games in the last few weeks,” said Impact head coach John Limniatis. “We knew that it would be difficult to get a positive result here but when you work hard and you believe, you can achieve great things. We were efficient tonight both defensively and offensively.”

“It’s huge,” said veteran defender Nevio Pizzolitto. “We did what we had to do, which was to get the three points. Nobody thought we could do this. It’s unbelievable! We stayed concentrated for 90 minutes. They had a few chances but nothing that Matt (Jordan) could not handle.”

The Impact ended the game with a player advantage after CD Olimpia midfielder Elvis Danilo Turcios was ejected for tackling Leonardo Di Lorenzo.Which made holding the result easier.

After three games in the CONCACAF Champions League group stage, the Impact is still in first place in Group C, sitting ahead of Atlante FC, which was facing tonight Joe Public FC.

Worst case, even if FC Atlante wins, which they most probably will seeing Joe Public’s form as of late, l’impact will be tied for 1st in the group.

L’impact will now be facing the Whitecaps in the USL semi-Final on Friday. The return leg in Vancouver will be on Sunday before flying straight to Trinidad to face Joe Public
