Charleston 1, Impact 0 and things to come…
By: Franck | July 7th, 2009Well, by all accounts, we just fell flat in the second half, but we sure tried to win. We’re now sitting in the seventh spot, ready to be overtaken by Vancouver. Clearly, this past week has shown us where we really stand in comparison to some of the better USL clubs: Simply put, we don’t compare to the better USL clubs such as Charleston and Portland.
Tomorrow we have our second international friendly of the season, against Syria’s national team. I’m hoping a large crowd of both Impact and Syrian supporters show up.
As for the rest of this month, let’s hope that matches against Minnesota, Cleveland Austin and Miami bring us good fortune, while the matches against Rochester and Puerto Rico don’t completely ruin team spirit.

The Impact have been very Jekyll and Hyde this season. They can play decently and win a game, but then you see them play dreadfully like against Portland and Toronto. They’re definitely going to need to rebuild soon. How good is the Impact academy?

I’d say good enough to have a few guys tearing up the CSA (i.e. Reda Agourram, 9 G in 8 GP) and a few players who have been filling in on our team and playing at least as well as the regulars.
