L’Impact Ne RĂ©siste Pas au Tonnerre du Minnesota ! a.k.a Impact lose meaningless game

By: Marco Stucazzo | September 21st, 2008

It’s not like we were trying hard or anything. L’Impact flew in 15 players to Minnesota for a Saturday night outing in a Minneapolis suburb. Well we got trumped 3-1 after starting off the game well. Let’s be honest, not much was running on this game a part from the fact that you could lose a couple of key players to injury. So John Limniatis gave a bunch of players their first start of their lives in the USL, Andrew Weber was in nets, Roberto Brown was coming back from injury and to add a little spice to it all Adam Braz decided to get sent off after 72 minutes. 3-1 was the final score for the Thunder.

At least Alex Surprenant scored his 1st USL goal in his first USL start. Sweet!

There were two different games tonight, one in the first half and another one after halftime,” said Impact head coach John Limniatis. We did well in the first 45 minutes but nothing good happened in the second half. The attitude in the second half was very disappointing.”  Mr. Limniatis omits to mention we have a game tonight against the Islanders in MontrĂ©al…

Despite this loss, the Impact is still third in the USL First Division standings with 41 points and we still have way more street cred than any Toronto team Lynx or FCs, whatever you want.

Yeah, I agree, the match was of no consequence. The question, at that time, was will this strategy pay off when the impact plays Atlante FC. Well I just came back from this match. I will give you my impressions when you start a blog on that match…
